The sector of automatic distribution of food, drinks and coffee in capsules or pods closed 2018, in Italy, with a growth of 4.7 percent compared to 2017.

These are the latest data coming from Confida in the study carried out in collaboration with Accenture. The turnover is about four billion euros (3.94 to be precise), with more than 12 billion in total consumption.

The most consumed product of the automatic machine is coffee, with 86 per cent of the volumes of heat, which correspond to 2.8 billion drinks (also in this case, compared to 2017, there was an increase of 1,68 percent).

There were 12,000 machines installed in 2018 alone, and there are now 822,175 in Italy: this is a record. Italy is in first place ahead of France and Germany. Not only that: automatic distribution is at the top of the distribution and sale channels to the final consumer. These numbers also exceed all the retail and consumer outlets of the large-scale retail trade combined.

Venditalia, the reference fair for vending, is scheduled from 25 to 28 May 2022 at Fieramilano in Rho. The first edition of the event dates back to 1998, in Genoa.
